Barge Services

Heavy equipment, on the water.

When a project can't be reached from the bank, we bring the equipment to it. Here's how our barge opens up shorelines that trucks and boats simply can't.

The basics

A jobsite that floats

Some of the best shoreline is the hardest to reach. Steep banks, no road access, deep water off the bank — the exact spots that need work are often the ones a truck or a boat can't get to.

Our barge solves that. It's a stable, floating platform we can load with rock, materials, and heavy equipment, then position exactly where the work is. That means rip rap, dock builds, and shoreline repairs can happen from the water — safely and efficiently — no matter how the land sits.

If it's on the water and it needs weight, reach, or a solid base to work from, the barge is how it gets done.

What we do from the barge

On-the-water heavy equipment

One floating platform, a whole range of marine work that would otherwise be impossible from shore:

  • Barge service — a stable platform positioned right where the work is
  • Material hauling — rock, equipment, and supplies moved across the water
  • Excavator service — digging, grading, and placement from the barge deck
  • Demolition & removal — tearing out failing docks, walls, and structures
  • Dredging — restoring depth and clearing silt where you need access

How it works

From the bank to the barge

Bringing equipment onto the water takes planning — here's how a barge job comes together.

01

Assess the access

We look at how the site sits — bank, depth, and launch points — to plan the safest way to get equipment on the water and to the work.

02

Mobilize the barge

We launch, load, and position the barge, turning open water into a stable, level jobsite right at the shoreline that needs it.

03

Work from the water

Rip rap, dock work, demolition, or dredging happens from the deck — reaching what the bank can't, then leaving a clean site behind.

Why RT Rip Rap

Lake expertise, the right equipment

Working on the water is a different job than working on land. We've spent years on the lake, and we bring the equipment, the platform, and the know-how to do it safely.

  • Real lake experience — we know how water changes a jobsite
  • Barge access for hard-to-reach and remote shorelines
  • The muscle behind our rip rap, dock, and seawall work
  • Locally owned — one crew, quality work, clean job sites
